1 The lifting process cannot be stopped


(1) The travel switch on the scissors lift platform is damaged, replace the travel switch,


(2) The control handle of the scissors lift platform and the button of the distribution box are damaged, repair or replace the handle or button.


2 The scissors lift platform is unable to lift


(1) The overload protection function of the lifting platform is triggered by the overloaded goods. In order to prevent the machine from being damaged, the overload protection device stops the machine.

(2) The supply voltage is too low. Check the power supply voltage to ensure that the voltage of the motor under load is within the allowable range.

3 The lifting platform descends naturally


(1) One-way valve discharge. Check the one-way valve in the valve group. If there is dirt on the sealing surface of the one-way valve, clean the one-way valve.


(2) The pressure relief valve is not tightly closed. Repair or replace the pressure relief valve.


4 The lifting platform does not descend


(1) Lowering valve fault. Press the lowering button, check whether the lowering valve is energized. If there is no electricity, connect to the power supply as soon as possible; if there is electricity, check whether the solenoid valve spool is stuck or damaged.

(2) The lowering speed control valve is misaligned. Adjust the lowering speed control valve. If the adjustment is invalid, replace the speed control valve with a new one.


5 The lowering valve cannot be closed


(1) The lowering valve is damaged or stuck. Clean or replace it.


(2) The lowering travel switch is damaged. Replace the lowering travel switch.  For the lifting platform without the lowering travel switch, check whether the time relay operates normally.

3. Working Principle of MORN Scissor Lift


The working principle for hydraulic scissor lifts is based on Pascal’s law for generating force or motion, which states that pressure change on an incompressible liquid in a confined space is passed equally throughout the liquid in all directions.


The hydraulic scissor lift consists of piston within a cylinder, oil reservoir, pump, motor (used to drive the pump) and valve. Generally, a hydraulic lift is equipped with a machine room, which will house the pump, fluid and motor.


When going up, the pump pushes oil into the cylinder, pushing the piston (which pushes the lift) up. When going down, the valve opens and the oil can flow back into the reservoir, and is pushed back using the gravitational force of the lifting platform.


When the valve is closed, the oil can only go from the reservoir into the cylinder. When the valve is open, the oil can only flow from the cylinder back into the reservoir.


The controls in the lifting platform make the pump operate, moving the oil. When a floor is reached, the pump is switched off and the lifting platform sits on top of the piston, held in position by the oil which is trapped in the cylinder.

4. How to Operate Hydraulic Scissor Lifts

Pre-use Inspection

  1. Hydraulic oil and battery fluid inspection

First, check whether the hydraulic oil is leaking or the oil level is appropriate, refuel it if necessary. And check whether the battery fluid is leaking and the liquid level is appropriate, add distilled water as needed. Meanwhile, ensure that all labels are clear, legible, and properly positioned.


  1. Components inspection

Second, check and ensure the components of the scissor lift platforms are not damaged, improperly installed or missing, including the electrical components, hydraulic hoses, battery packs, drive motors, gaskets, tires, wheels, limit switch, platform overload component, indicator light, platform control handle, brake parts, etc.


  1. Cracks and tightened inspection

Finally, check whether the entire scissor lift platform has cracks, dents or damages in weldment or structural parts; ensure that all structural parts and other key parts are complete, and all related fasteners and pins are in the correct position and tightened; make sure that the battery tray and oil pump tray are closed and locked, and the battery is connected properly.


Safe Operation


The tip-over of scissor lifts in operation has frequently resulted in the death and/or severe injuries of workers. 1.Install the hydraulic scissor lift on a solid and flat ground


When operating a scissor lifting platform, be sure to install it on solid and flat ground. the tip-over or tilting of the lift platform can be avoided when four tires are firmly fixed on a horizontal plane.


2.Figure out the weight of the cargo to be loaded


When operating a hydraulic scissor lift, the operator must figure out the weight of the cargo to be loaded. For cargoes that are not marked with an accurate weight, make an estimate of them. If the cargo weight exceeds the maximum load limit of the lifting platform, stop using the machine, otherwise, it may cause damage to the scissor lifting platform or impose risks to the operator.


  1. Place the loads in the center of the lifting platform


When transporting goods with hydraulic scissor lifts, the heavy loads to be transported must be evenly placed on the center of the lifting platform. Do not place the heavy objects on one side of the lifting table to avoid tip-over.
